Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday requested a postponement of his court hearing in the corruption cases against him.
Channel 12 of the Israeli regime reported that the judiciary has agreed to Netanyahu’s request to delay the session.
According to this report, the reason provided was security-related, and Netanyahu will submit his explanations to the judges in a sealed envelope.
However, several Israeli media outlets have noted that this is a recurring tactic: Netanyahu has repeatedly requested delays or suspensions of his hearings in the past, often citing security reasons.
The prime minister of the Israeli regime is accused and on trial in three separate cases involving corruption, bribery, and breach of public trust.
The main accusations include receiving expensive gifts (such as cigars and champagne) from wealthy individuals in exchange for governmental favors, and attempting to strike a quid pro quo arrangement with the publisher of Yedioth Ahronoth to secure favorable media coverage.
The most serious case against him is Case 4000, in which Netanyahu is accused of taking bribes. He is alleged to have granted regulatory benefits worth hundreds of millions of shekels to the telecommunications company Bezeq in return for highly favorable coverage on the news website Walla.
Yesterday, Netanyahu formally requested a pardon from Isaac Herzog, the president of the regime.
