  • Fatal police shooting of a woman in the United States

A police shooting in Philadelphia has resulted in yet another deadly incident.

The death of an American citizen occurred after two police officers in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, opened fire on a woman.

According to U.S. media reports, officers responded to a call regarding a woman who was reportedly attempting to take her own life.

Police claimed that the approximately 35-year-old woman had initially pointed a gun at her own head, but then redirected it toward the responding officers, prompting them to open fire.

Efforts to transport her to the hospital were unsuccessful, and she died due to the severity of her injuries.

The Philadelphia Police Department asserted that officers’ attempts to use a taser to compel the woman to drop the weapon had been ineffective.

The Officer-Involved Shooting Investigation Unit, the Internal Affairs Bureau, and the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office are investigating the shooting that resulted in the woman’s death.

No one else was injured in the incident.

The two officers involved have been placed on administrative leave. Police stated that the body cameras worn by the 36- and 25-year-old officers were activated during the shooting.

According to Mapping Police Violence, U.S. police have killed 1,159 people so far this year.

With one month remaining in 2025, the number of days without a deadly police shooting in the United States stands at approximately five.
