A woman will be Iran's ambassador and deputy of Iran’s mission to the United Nations.

Zahra Ershadi, the director general of human rights at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is set to become the second person to represent Iran at the United Nations in New York.

For the first time since the Islamic Revolution of Iran, she will serve as Iran's ambassador and deputy of Iran’s mission to the United Nations.

Recently, Homeira Rigi, a Sunni Baluch woman, became the first Sunni Baluch ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran in Brunei.

She was previously the governor of Qasr Qand city in Sistan and Baluchestan Province and was appointed as the first female district governor of the Sunnis.
