Israeli occupation forces, who have a long record of committing crimes against journalists, opened fire on a member of Al Jazeera’s media team, injuring him.
Channel 12 of the Israeli regime reported that Fadi Yassin, a photographer and cameraman for Al Jazeera, was shot in the leg by Israeli soldiers near the Nur Shams refugee camp in the Tulkarm area (northern West Bank).
Yassin was covering a demonstration in the occupied West Bank when he was shot and wounded.
In an interview with Al Jazeera, he said he had been documenting a protest by Palestinians in the Nur Shams refugee camp at the time of the shooting.
“They were demonstrating to demand a return to their homes,” he said. “Ten months after being displaced, the refugees feel they have been abandoned by everyone.”
Yassin added that before heading to conduct interviews, he had been standing beside the protesters and filming the demonstration with one of his colleagues.
“A soldier fired shots into the air,” he said. “Then he aimed at my legs. The bullet entered my left leg and exited through my right.”
According to reports, a child was also shot and injured by occupation forces.
