The Head of the Judiciary, then, during his speech at the ceremony, while referring to the importance of tree planting and green spaces for promoting and improving the environment and human living space and the Supreme Leader’s emphasis on environmental restoration, stated: Dedicating a day as Arbor Day is a very good and desirable tradition; on this day, people symbolically plant saplings and uphold the tradition and value of tree planting and environmental protection.
Referring to the close and direct connection between the environment and human well-being, the Head of the Judiciary stated: One of the necessities for achieving a healthy human life is the environment; If the environment is clean and there is a possibility of human growth in it, man can achieve a good life.
In another part of his speech, Mohseni Ejei stated that environmental protection is a rational matter and a subject that has been considered in all schools of thought, especially the School of Islam, and said: Although organizations have been formed at the international level for the protection of the environment, today we are also witnessing the same deviation that we see in international organizations defending human rights in international organizations protecting the environment.
Stating that today Western governments talk about protecting the environment, but they are committing the worst destruction in return, the head of the judiciary said: Still, after several decades, no one has forgotten what the United States did to the environment of the people by dropping atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki; Today, the usurping and fraudulent Zionist regime, with the support of the United States, is carrying out the worst destruction against the environment of the people of Gaza; all this is happening in a situation where international environmental protection organizations, with their discriminatory view, do not pay any attention to these events.
Mohseni Ejei continued, referring to the requirements of infrastructure development while paying attention to the environment, and stated: It is necessary for all responsible powers and agencies, especially the executive branch, to consider the simultaneous development of infrastructure and civil affairs, as well as the environment and green space. It is certainly possible to achieve both progress and development of civil and infrastructural development by using new and comprehensive models, and to ensure that the environment is not harmed in this development path and that the scope of urban and peripheral green space is even increased.
The head of the judiciary stated: Sometimes it is observed that the construction of a development and infrastructure project begins after extensive studies, location and allocation of credit and budget, but sometime after breaking ground, the project is stopped due to environmental issues; in such cases, both public dissatisfaction arises and credits and costs are lost. Therefore, it is very necessary to consider environmental annexes during prior studies on all development, infrastructure and development-oriented plans and projects. It should be noted that for us, both the environment and the desirable living environment of the people are a priority, as well as the development of infrastructure. These two must be considered and observed simultaneously.
The Chief Justice emphasized the need to develop a comprehensive and documented program to protect all vital components and elements of the environment and stated: "The religious people of Islamic Iran, in accordance with their religious teachings and beliefs, are diligent in protecting the environment and preventing the contamination of vital components and elements of this environment, such as water, soil, and air; however, this individual observance and caution is not enough, and it is necessary to develop and compile a comprehensive and documented program with a guarantee of implementation by the government to protect and preserve the main elements that make up the environment."
