London; the city with the highest crime rate in UK

  • London; the city with the highest crime rate in UK

Although the whole of England witnessed a worrying increase in crime rates last year, according to statistics, the situation in the England capital was worse than other cities in the country.

In 2024, England's crime rate was startlingly high, and the country's capital, London, was in a dire situation.

Several factors, such as the cost of living crisis and societal shifts following the Corona outbreak, contributed to the notable shift in London's crime scene in 2024, according to Novusaltair.

The country's capital saw an 18% increase in crime last year, despite the fact that the crime rate rose throughout England in 2024.

Last year, London had a crime rate of 105.8 per thousand, up from 100.9 the year before.

In the meantime, London's violent crime rate increased to 27.9 per 100,000 residents, up from the previous year.

The number of knife crime and crime-related incidents in London increased by 2.7% in 2024. Last year, London saw a 51% increase in sexual crime; experts believe this is a real increase in incidents, despite some attributing the increase to higher reporting rates.

In 2024, London's robbery rate also rose by roughly 9.9%, with a startling rise in commercial robberies.

In 2024, a third of all murders in England were reported to have taken place in London.

In 2024, the average crime rate in England was approximately 89.7 per 1,000 people. Knife crime has also increased nationwide, with London contributing significantly to this increase.

The UK's security sector has failed to address the crisis despite the use of a plethora of technology, which has led to an increase in crime rates.
