  • Gharibabadi in a meeting with Hamid Nouri's son: Our effort is to pursue and fulfill the rights of Iranians everywhere in the world

Stating that Hamid Nouri is illegally imprisoned in Sweden, the Vice President of the Judiciary for International Affairs and the Secretary General of the High Council for Human Rights said: “Our effort is to pursue and fulfill the rights of Iranians anywhere in the world.”

HCHR_The son of Mr. Hamidi Nouri, an Iranian citizen imprisoned in Sweden, met and talked with Kazem Gharibabadi, the Vice President of the Judiciary for International Affairs and the Secretary General of the High Council for Human Right of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

While explaining his father's bad mental and physical condition in the Swedish prison and the inhumane treatment against him during the past 5 years, Mr. Nouri's son said: “My father spends all this time - except for the last few months - in solitary confinement and during the last 6 months, we were able to communicate with him only once for 4 minutes. For a simple phone call, they ask me for a certificate of no bad background. In April 2024, after a lot of follow-up, they gave us an appointment on the April 9 and when we went to the prison, they said that your name is not on the appointment list. When I protested, they took my mobile phone and still have not given it back. They imprisoned me and made me wear prison clothes”.

Majid Nouri continued: “During Ramadan Month, they put me on trial in one day and they were in no rush to release me, even though my innocence was proven to them. I remember that Martyr Amir Abdullahian personally called me and comforted me. I was released after the following up by him and other institutions, including the High Council for Human Rights”.

While appreciating Majid Nouri for informing the HCHR about his father's condition in Swedish prison, Gharibabadi stated: “One of the main duties and responsibilities of the HCHR and the Deputy of the Judiciary for International Affairs is to support and defend Iranian nationals anywhere in the world, regardless of their race, gender and religion”.

The Secretary General of the HCHR added: “From the very beginning of Hamid Nouri's arrest to the trial and issuance of the verdict against him, the Swedish government and judicial system have repeatedly violated the basic and human rights of Mr. Nouri, while presenting themselves as human rights claimants!”

The Vice President of the Judiciary for International Affairs, while referring to the quadrilateral memorandum of understanding between the High Council for Human Rights, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Prisons Organization and the Prisoners' Cooperative Foundation, emphasized: “All relevant institutions, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the High Council for Human Rights and the Deputy of the Judiciary for International Affairs are trying to free Iranian citizens who have been cruelly and unjustly imprisoned in foreign prisons”.
