Gharibabadi's Criticism of the Dual Policy of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights regarding the Events in Iran and the US

  • Gharibabadi's Criticism of the Dual Policy of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights regarding the Events in Iran and the US

The Secretary General of the High Council for Human Rights said: During the last few days, at the height of the repression in the U.S., the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights has issued three statements against Iran, but so far no position has been taken regarding the arrest of 900 students and professors in the United States.

Kazem Gharibabadi, the Vice President of the Judiciary for International Affairs and the Secretary General of the High Council for Human Rights, in the meeting of the Supreme Council of the Judiciary, referred to the issue of the protests of the U.S. students and professors which have faced with severe and violent repression.

Referring to the statistics published about the arrest of 900 students and professors in the United States during the anti-Zionist uprising in the past few days, Gharibabadi noted: “While in recent days, we have witnessed the establishment of large-scale anti-Zionist gatherings in the U.S. universities followed by the arrest of several hundred students and professors in this regard, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights has not paid the slightest attention to the events that happened in the U.S., while it has issued three human rights statements against Iran during this period. This fact confirms the contradictions and double standards in the human rights mechanisms”.
