Kazem Gharibabadi, the Vice President of the Judiciary for International Affairs and the Secretary-General of the High Council for Human Rights, while explaining the performance of the Islamic Republic of Iran at the 55th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, said: “Last year the Human Rights Council carried out a political action by inciting and pursuing by European countries, especially Germany created the so-called fact-finding mission to investigate issues related to the 2022 riots in Iran”.
Pointing out that the mentioned action took place while the countries behind this political action, such as Germany, were involved in widespread violations of the rights of the Iranian people, Gharibabadi stated: “Germany is a country that, through providing chemical weapons to Saddam, caused the martyrdom and injury of more than 113 innocent people in Iran”.
He added: “Germany, along with other countries such as the United States, the U.K, France, Canada, the Netherlands, and some European countries, are effective in imposing and implementing unilateral sanctions against Iran. Sanctions that have violated the rights of millions of Iranians through the imposition of unilateral cruel measures”.
Saying that these are the countries harboring terrorists in their own territories, the Secretary-General of the HCHR added: “These are the terrorists who martyred more than 17 thousand innocent Iranians. These countries, in addition to the United States, are countries that have widely supported the crimes of the Zionist regime in Gaza in recent months and did not allow any action to be taken in international organizations to stop the crimes of the Zionist regime. How can these countries claim human rights”
Referring to the misuse of last year's unrest in Iran by the Western countries, Gharibabadi added: “Following the protests caused by the death of one of our citizens, who was turned to violence with the help of foreign interference, incitement by anti-Iranian media, the support of the intelligence services of some countries, the presence of terrorist groups, and the active role of social networks, the mentioned countries claimed the rights of women and the people of Iran”.
He emphasized: “The report that the so-called fact-finding mission submitted to the Human Rights Council was undocumented, unprofessional and full of false and baseless claims, and their sources were mostly anti-Iranian media”.
He continued: “We explained these issues on Monday in the Human Rights Council. We questioned the reliability and authenticity aspect of this action with the same descriptions that were expressed. These countries do not have jurisdiction in the field of human rights, while many crimes are happening in occupied Palestine, these countries create a fake human rights situation for independent countries”.
Emphasizing on the positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding responsibility of the system, the Secretary General said: “The Islamic Republic of Iran’s system looked at the events that happened last year with compassion and tried to make decisions on the people who were arrested as soon as possible. In addition, through the broad amnesty of the Supreme Leader, the cases of all those who were arrested or were out on appropriate bails were closed and the criminal effect was removed. At the same time, efforts were made so that if someone was damaged and referred to the competent authorities, action would be taken to remedy their losses, and if someone innocently lost their life, efforts were made to pay their compensation through the competent authorities Of course, this includes people who lost their lives.”
Stating that 72 people were martyred from the law enforcement forces and security defenders and more than 7 thousand people were injured, he continued: “Naturally, the government should pay for the damages of these cases and take into account their violated rights”.
Gharibabadi stated: “Based on the responsibility policy, if there were any mistakes in dealing with the riots, after the complaints from the law enforcement forces, these complaints were dealt with in the judicial system”.
In the end, the Secretary-General of the HCHR stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran itself suffered extensive damage due to foreign interference and the violence of the unrest last year, but acted responsibly. He emphasized: “Iran has no position for countries that claim human rights and mechanisms such as the so-called fact-finding mission to interfere in Iran's internal affairs Iran itself is competent to deal with all internal issues”.
