Union rail workers members of the SUD Rail and Force Ouvriere trade unions have embarked on strike-action in the Landes department.
They are calling for additional human resources to ensure better service on new TER trains. The operator has advised affected passengers to "anticipate or postpone" their journeys if possible. As a result of the strikes, trains are subject to delay and cancellation. Therefore, services that still operate are likely to be more congested than usual, especially due to school reopening after the end-of-year holidays. On the other hand, increased demand for alternative forms of transport could lead to increased road traffic congestion and reduced taxi availability during the strike. Workers may stage related protests in city centers, outside rail stations, or outside rail operator offices. Lingering disruptions are possible after the strike.
