Iran approves outlines of action plan on human rights

  • Iran approves outlines of action plan on human rights

The outlines of Iran’s action plans on human rights in the domestic and international arenas have been approved.

Secretary General of Iran’s High Council for Human Rights Kazem Gharibabadi said the plan includes monitoring the situation of human rights inside and outside the country, making demands in the field of human rights, holding to account the executive bodies and relevant authorities with regard to people’s rights, identifying human rights violations in the executive bodies and trying to fix them,  and clarifying the human rights policies of the Islamic Republic.

The plans will be reviewed and finalized in detail within the framework of the Secretariat of Iran’s High Council for Human Rights, Gharibabadi said.

The details will be announced by the human rights council to all executive bodies, he added.

Meanwhile, Judiciary Chief Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei criticized the instrumental use of human rights by Western countries and their double standards in issues related to human rights.

“Under the Islamic Republic of Iran, we regard the observance of human rights as our religious, legal and ethical duty,” he said.

He lamented that Iranian authorities have not offered comprehensive clarification of the Islamic Republic’s human rights principles and measures.

“This shortcoming needs to be remedied,” he asserted. “We must prove that we are the ones demanding in the issue of human rights and related issues, including women’s rights.”
