HCHR_“The followers of monotheistic religions, along with their fellow Muslims, have played an influential role in the sacred defense and development of the Country”, stressed Kazem Gharibabadi, the Vice-President of International Affairs of the Judiciary and the Secretary-General of the High Council for Human Rights. He added that the followers of monotheistic religions constitute an essential part of Iranian society.
Referring to the unique view of the Chief of the Judiciary and other high-ranking officials towards the followers of monotheistic religions, Gharibabadi touched upon special efforts made to handle and resolve requests submitted by what he described as “compatriots”, as well as the plans and measures implemented by the High Council for Human Rights to support and promote human rights.
He appreciated the representatives of the followers of monotheistic religions and the leaders of their religious communities for shedding light on the facts on the ground and actions taken by the Government and its’ exceptional attention to their rights, underlying the High Council for Human Rights’ readiness to examine and address the outstanding issues.
During the meeting, Robert Beglarian, the representative of the Armenian Christians of Isfahan and southern Iran; Esfandiar Ekhtiari, the representative of the Zoroastrians; Homayoon Sameh Yah Najafabadi, the representative of the Jews; and Ara Shahverdian, the representative of the Armenian Christians of Tehran and the north, discussed the various services offered by the Government to the followers of monotheistic religions.
They stressed that the Judiciary, executive bodies, and Parliament have always stood with the followers of monotheistic religions. They further exchanged views and provided suggestions, which will be followed up on by the High Council for Human Rights.
