HCHR- Following the Islamic Revolution, Iran has paid a heavy price for ensuring its security and keeping foreigners out of the Country. The sacrifice of the lives of over 213,000 people of this land in eight years of imposed war bears witness to the resistance of the great Iranian nation against the arrogant avarice of those who did not stomach Iran’s independence and launched a broadside against its’ territorial integrity.
Since then, Iran’s enemies have left no stone unturned to materialize their destabilization strategy. On 17 September 2022 and right after the death of Mahsa Amini, these countries grasped the opportunity to ride the wave of unrest and fan the flames of protests taking place following the death of the foregoing person. In the meantime, the willful or unwanted accompanying of those who went along with the enemy’s scenario caused the protests to fade away and morph into riots quickly, dealing a hefty blow to and imposing a high cost on the Country and the people. Having prioritized their national interests, the Iranian people soon parted ways with the rioters and separatists, emerging victorious from such a test once again.
During three months of riots, a significant number of the youth of this land (more than 7,000 people) were injured by the rioters for merely defending and maintaining the security of the State, and some of them were brutally martyred.
The martyrdom and injuries of the law enforcement forces come as, according to the issued instructions and the available documents, they did not even carry any firearms to defend themselves against the rioters and armed terrorists. On the other side, the rioters and terrorists took to the streets with firearms and shot security and police forces and even passers-by, martyring many of them. Over 8,314 weapons were discovered and confiscated during the riots, of which 6,314 were firearms.
The present report puts on display the pictures and touches upon the particularities of security defender martyrs as well as some innocent people who were brutally martyred by the rioters.
