Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on Wednesday that the academic elites have been a source of pride for the country.
The Supreme Leader made the remarks in a meeting in Tehran with academic elites and top university students.
Ayatollah Khamenei called on the participants to appreciate themselves noting that the Iranian nation must also appreciate their services. “I also appreciate you very much.”
After the 1979 Islamic Revolution, the universities were expanded across Iran and the number of university students and professors increased incredibly, the Supreme Leader said, noting that the Islamic Republic of Iran has been successful in fulfillment of its goal for the promotion of universities and science.
The Leader said that the Iranian academics have been successful in different areas such as stem cells, simulation of live animals, biochemistry, the launch of satellites, nuclear technology, and production of complicated vaccines such as the COVID vaccine, and have made dazzling progress in missile and drone industries.
Ayatollah Khamenei criticized some Iranian academic elites who migrate to other countries and said that an academic elite has to remain with its people.
The leader said that studying in top universities of the world has no problem but the academics have to return to Iran after they finish their education so as to help the progress of the country.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that 43 years past the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the enemies have repeatedly talked about the collapse of the Islamic system in Iran while the persistence of the move of the Islamic Revolution proved that such analyses are wrong and non-realistic.
“We did not give up and we stood and God willing we will continue to stand,” the Supreme Leader said.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that he does not reject the existence of some weaknesses in the country, but noted that Iran’s general move is towards progress.
