Accordingly, UNICEF announced that Bandar Abbas, Evaz, Gorgan, Hamedan, Kerman, Mashhad, Rasht, Semnan, Shiraz, Tabriz, Tehran, and Yazd were selected to pilot the program.
The piloting process will officially start after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the municipalities of the pilot cities and the Ministry of Interior, UNICEF added.
A Child Friendly City is a city or a local community where the voices, needs, priorities and rights of children are an integral part of public policies, programs and decisions.
UNICEF CFCI logo and brand are awarded only after the city successfully completes the CFCI Cycle, UNICEF reported.
During the pilot phase, the city is not yet considered a “Child Friendly City” and does not receive the logo or the official recognition.
The new join cooperation, which will continue the end of 2022, was signed by Representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Iran Mandeep O'Brien and former head of Iran's Interior Ministry for information and international affairs Rahim Saki.
