Australia's ambassador to Iran has visited Kylie Moore-Gilbert who was arrested in Iran in 2018 and sentenced to 10 years jail for espionage.

Austria’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade spokesperson said Australian Ambassador to Iran Lyndall Sachs visited Moore-Gilbert on Sunday.

"Dr Moore-Gilbert is well and has access to food, medical facilities and books. We will continue to seek regular consular access to Dr Moore-Gilbert," the spokesperson said in a statement.

Back in May, Iran’s High Council for Human Rights stated that, just like other prisoners, she has access to necessary items. “For example, she is provided with books she asks for and is regularly in touch with her family.”

The statement was released after Media propaganda claimed she has attempted suicide in prison.

Western media stressed that Kylie Moore-Gilbert has attempted suicide in prison three times and since she is in terrible conditions, she's likely to die soon. On the contrary, when she spoke to her family, she extremely rejected all claims with respect to suicide and being tortured in prison.

Austria’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade criticized media, saying that “the best chance of resolving Dr Moore-Gilbert's case lies through the diplomatic path and not through the media. Dr Moore-Gilbert and her family have requested privacy."
