The Last Condition of Bashir Bi Azar in France by the Secretary General of the High Council for Human Rights

  • The Last Condition of Bashir Bi Azar in France by the Secretary General of the High Council for Human Rights

Referring to the continued detention of Bashir Bi Azar by the French despite the issuance of a deportation order, the Secretary General of the High Council for Human Rights of the I.R. of Iran stated that the question is why the French want to keep him in custody until the last day.

HCHR_Kazem Gharibabadi, the Vice President of the Judiciary for International Affairs and the Secretary General of the High Council for Human Rights, in an interview with the Young Journalists Club, explained the latest situation of Bashir Bi Azar, an Iranian citizen detained in France.

He emphasized that we believe Bashir Bi Azar is innocently in custody.

Referring to the fact that the French had announced Bi Aazaar should be deported from France within 28 days, the Secretary General of the HCHR noted: “Bi Azaar has been detained for almost 20 days now, and it is not understandable why the French want to keep him in prison until the last day. The French could have returned Bi Aazar to Iran sooner”.

According to Gharibabadi's announcement, eviction of Bashir Bi Azar is questioned from the point of view of human rights, because Bi Azar, his wife and child are studying in France and separating family members is an issue against human rights”.

The Vice President of the Judiciary for International Affairs stated: “It is still a question for us that despite all these issues, why the French want to keep Bi Azar in prison until the last day”.

Regarding the ongoing follow-up in the case of Bi Azar detention in France, Gharibabadi said: “We are in constant contact with the French authorities through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and we are following up on this issue. We emphasized to the French authorities that Bashir Bi Azar should be released as soon as possible, and follow-ups are underway in this regard, and I hope this will be achieved soon”.

Bashir Bi Azar, a media activist, was summoned and arrested by the French police on Tuesday, June 4, 2024.
