HCHR_The first meeting of the Committee on the 8th Islamic Human Rights Award was held at the Human Rights Council with the presence of Kazem Gharibabadi, the Vice President of the Judiciary for International Affairs and the Secretary General of the HCHR of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Deputy of International Affairs and Human Rights of the Ministry of Justice and a group of representatives of the member institutions of this committee.
In this meeting, referring to the third generation of human rights, which includes the right to development, the right to access to a healthy environment, and the right to access to peace and security, Gharibabadi states: “The Zionist regime has committed all crimes in Gaza after October 7, including crimes against humanity, genocide, and war crimes and we are witnessing mass killing and massacre of civilians, especially women and children in the Gaza Strip”.
The Secretary General of the HCHR continued: “The pioneers of the new anti-apartheid wave against the Zionist regime and those who take steps in defense of the oppressed and defenseless people of Gaza, as well as the real human rights defenders in fighting against challenges such as unilateral sanctions and anti-human rights actions, should be appreciated”.
In this meeting, the indicators of the 8th Islamic Human Rights Award were determined and it was decided to introduce relevant examples based on the indicators.
