“Iran will respond to any attack on its interests”, said Gharibabadi in a visit to Iran's diplomatic facilities in Damascus

  • “Iran will respond to any attack on its interests”, said Gharibabadi in a visit to Iran's diplomatic facilities in Damascus

The Vice President of the Judiciary for International Affairs and the Secretary General of the High Council for Human Rights of the Islamic Republic of Iran said: “The Islamic Republic of Iran does not condone any invasion on its interests and security, and will give a direct and serious response to any aggression, even if it takes place in the territory of a third country, this is a new equation that the enemy should know”.

HCHR_Kazem Gharibabadi, the Vice President of the Judiciary for International Affairs and the Secretary General of the HCHR, during his visit to the building of the consular section of the Islamic Republic of Iran embassy, which was destroyed by the brutal attack of the Zionist regime, stated: “During this visit and in the conversation with the Syrian authorities, we will jointly pursue the issue of filing legal cases against Zionist criminals within the framework of the judicial system through international organizations and human rights forums”.

Gharibabadi further described the Zionist regime's attack on the Iranian consular building in Damascus as completely contrary to international obligations and laws as well as the provisions of the United Nations Charter and stated: “The Zionist regime even violated the obligations under the 1961 Convention on the inviolability and protection of Diplomatic Sites and agents and the 1973 Convention on internationally protected persons”.

Criticizing the weak approach of the United Nations Security Council towards the crimes of the Zionist regime, he emphasized: “Under the provisions of the United Nations Charter, this council has a clear responsibility in maintaining international peace and security, and necessary measures should be taken to deal with the usurping Zionist regime. But unfortunately we witnessed a meeting of the Security Council where some claimant countries such as the U.K, France and the United States did not even condemn the aggression of the Zionist regime”.

The Secretary-General of the HCHR added: “The Security Council has been very incapable in maintaining international peace and security and in fulfilling its duties and responsibilities under the United Nations Charter. Accordingly and based on Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, the Islamic Republic of Iran had the right to self-defense and well enjoyed this right.

Regarding the response to the Zionist regime's warmongering and the “Honest Promise Operation”, Gharibabadi noted: “With this decisive response, the armed forces of our country fulfilled both the orders of the Supreme Leader and the people's expectations”.

The Vice-President of the Judiciary added: “In response to the Zionist regime, Iran only targeted some military sites, and civilian places and economic facilities were not within the scope of our defined targets”.

In the end, Gharibabadi reminded: “The response of the Islamic Republic of Iran was an action under international law and was done according to the principles of humanity and Islam. The Islamic Republic of Iran has started its political and legal measures in this case and will follow it up seriously”.
