During the last three years, 44 fugitive accused and convicts have been extradited to the country
Gharibabadi explained the actions of the Deputy for International Affairs of the Judiciary regarding the extradition of criminals.
HCHR_Kazem Gharibabadi, the Vice-President of the Judiciary for International Affairs and the Secretary-General of the High Council for Human Rights, while presenting a report on the actions of the Deputy for International Affairs of the Judiciary regarding the extradition of criminals from the beginning of 2021 to February 2024, stated: “During this period, 261 extradition requests issued by various judicial authorities have been sent to the respective countries by the Deputy for International Affairs of the Judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Noting that 261 extradition requests have been sent to foreign countries in the last three years, Gharibabadi added: “Most of these requests are related to Turkey, UAE and Iraq”.
The Deputy for International Affairs of the Judiciary continued: “During this period, 44 fugitive accused and convicts have been extradited from Turkey, Iraq, UAE, Malaysia, Kuwait, Thailand, Lebanon, Russia, Slovakia, Cyprus and Armenia to Iran.
Gharibabadi asked the UAE and Turkey to cooperate more in the extradition of criminals.
He also clarified that using various judicial, legal, police and political capacities to capture and extradite fugitive criminals and introduce them to justice and to achieve the rights of plaintiffs and victims is on the agenda.
