The Vice-President of the Judiciary for International Affairs and the Secretary-General of the High Council for Human Rights said: “Qualified Afghan prisoners will be transferred to their country based on regulations.”

 

HCHR_ Kazem Gharibabadi, the Vice-President of the Judiciary for International Affairs and the Secretary-General of the HCHR, who has traveled to Kabul as the head of a delegation, and at the invitation of the Head of the Supreme Judicial Council of Afghanistan, separately met with Sheikh Abdul Karim Haqqani, the Head of the Council, members of the Supreme Judicial Council, the Attorney General, and the Head and members of the Committee on Afghanistan Convicts Transfer.

In these meetings, the parties discussed and reached understanding in various issues, such as: transfer of eligible Afghan convicts to their country's prisons, according to the agreement on the transfer of convicts concluded between Iran and Afghanistan; speeding up the processing of requests for the extradition of criminals; transfer of experiences in the field of prison management to the Afghan party, establishment of a joint judicial committee to deal with terrorism.

In the same framework, it was decided that the Afghan side would transfer all the convicts to prison and all judicial decision would be made only within the framework of the agreement on the transfer of the convicts, and it would also provide the Iranian side with quarterly reports of the latest status of the convicts.

On the other hand, it was decided to provide the grounds for the immediate transfer of the few Iranian prisoners to the country as soon as possible.
