Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Rayeesi strongly deplored the increasing Israeli atrocities against the Palestinian people, and urged the Muslim nations to forge a united front against the Zionist regime.
"Iran and Algeria have close and common positions on regional and global issues, especially on the issue of Palestine and the rights of the oppressed people of this country," Rayeesi said in a phone conversation with his Algerian counterpart Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Sunday.
Iran's president stressed that Muslim nations should strengthen cooperation and form a united front against Israel to support the Palestinian people.
"Today more than ever before, establishment of a Unified Islamic Front against that regime and to support Palestinians in needed," he stated.
Tebboune, for his part, expressed hope that by relying on Islamic countries' cooperation they will manage to liberate the Palestinian nation from the oppressor reign of the Zionists.
Israeli troops stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem on successive days last week, firing tear gas and stun grenades and preventing Palestinian worshippers from entering the mosque for dawn prayers. Israeli troops also beat worshipers with batons and riot guns, wounding many, before arresting hundreds.
Several Muslim countries and organizations have strongly condemned the latest aggression, calling on international bodies to stop Israeli crimes and protect the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.
Palestinians are also worried about far-right Israeli movements that want to demolish the Islamic structures in the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and build a Jewish temple in their place.
