Iran’s Red Crescent Society (RCS) on Sunday delivered the 24th consignment of imported COVID-19 vaccines, containing 6 million doses, to the Health Ministry.
The RCS chief Karim Hemmati said that the Society has received 18 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine in three batches this week.
It has imported a total number of 58,390,000 doses of coronavirus vaccine since May, he added.
Iran has so far administered 63 million doses of vaccine, with 44,378,234 people receiving the first dose and 18,600,554 having received both shots, according to Hemmati.
He noted that the RCS has contributed to efforts to contain the COVID-19 pandemic, both through social activities like providing the people in need with sanitary material and food and establishing health centers with proper medical equipment like ventilators.
