The Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) announced that it has received and delivered the 14th consignment of imported COVID-19 vaccines to the country's Health Ministry

"The imported consignment, including 1.11 million doses of vaccines, is the second over the past week," IRCS President Karim Hemmati said on Sunday.

“With the import of the 14th vaccine consignment to the country, the Iranian Red Crescent Society has done its best to accelerate the process of public vaccination and this process will continue,” he added.

Hemmati also noted that the 14 consignments, which included a total number of 15.96 million vaccine doses, had been transferred to the country by 16 flights.

In a relevant development in late July, Iran received the second consignment of the Japanese AstraZeneca vaccines to fight COVID-19 deadly disease.

Japan's consignment included 1,098,300 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

The first consignment of vaccines against COVID-19 disease sent by the Japanese government arrived in Tehran last Friday (July 23, 2021).

The first shipment of coronavirus vaccines comprised 1,087,570 doses of Astrazeneca vaccines.
