15 Iranian hostages held by US: HR official

  • 15 Iranian hostages held by US: HR official

In an interview with Jaame Jam Newspaper on Monday, the Secretary of High Council for Human Rights said that 15 Iranian hostages falsely accused of violating US sanctions are jailed by the US government so that they could be exchanged by criminals with US nationality that are doing their time at Iran’s prisons.

Regarding the new approached taken by the Deputy of International Affairs to the Judiciary, Bagheri said that prosecution of the accused in abroad and extradition of criminals to Iran or to other countries is of the main duties of the mentioned Deputy. Also, with respect to the political and media propaganda against our judicial system, the Deputy of International Affairs has applied the same international legal capacities used by western countries, in order to clarify the legal approach of the Islamic Republic of Iran, he added.

In response to the question on human rights resolution against Iran, the Deputy of International Affairs to the Judiciary said that the main two countries that back up these resolutions are Sweden and Canada. Ironically, he said, Sweden has executed the medical sanctions against Iran and prevented providing special dressings for children butterfly patients. Despite of the fact that around 500, 000 Iranians live in Canada, due to political reasons, this country does not allow an office to be established in order for Iranians to receive consular services and our nationals have to travel thousands of kilometers so as to receive the mentioned service in other countries. These two great violators of human rights consider themselves as human rights advocates and hold human rights shows at international occasions.

“There are 3500 Iranian inmates who are doing their time at prisons abroad and we are seriously following up their status although this issue is directly related to the Ministry of Justice, we utilize all our capacities to provide Iranians jailed in foreign countries with assistance. According to statistics, 15 Iranians accused of violating US sanctions are doing their time at US prisons. The US government aims to exchange Iranian prisoners with criminals who have Amercian nationality are at Iran’s prisons. Such conduct reveals the real terrorist identity of the US regime”, Bagheri said.
