HR official slams UNSG’s silence over clear violation of Iranians’ human rights

  • HR official slams UNSG’s silence over clear violation of Iranians’ human rights
In a letter to the UN Secretary General, the Secretary of High Council for Human Rights criticized the European countries’ double standards towards Iran and state that politicized, unfair and unprofessional conduct of European states towards human rights issues not only leaves problems unsolved but also changes human rights into tools for superpowers to reach their illegitimate goals.
He also mentioned the efforts made by certain western countries with respect in order to ratify a human rights resolution against Iran in the third committee of the UN General Assembly and said that this resolution is not based on Iran’s human rights facts. Canada, who has suggested this resolution, is a systematic violator of human rights, for, the Canadian government has deprived the indigenous people of Canada of their rights and has actually made European immigrants superior to them.

“The US, France, Germany, Britain, Canada and Sweden have been partners in imposing and executing cruel sanctions against the Iranian people and also nations of the region. The UN Secretary General’s lack of attention to the violation of Iranian people’s human rights resulted from US regime’s sanctions and their severe impact on people’s lives implies to logic behind his conduct”, he added.

Bagheri reminded Mr. Guterres of the principles of “independence”, fairness” and “justice” which require a report to take into consideration the existing human rights facts and not false claims made by terrorist groups with a history of enmity against the Iranian nation.

The human rights chief also said that unfortunately the impact of the US cruel sanctions on Iranian people’s lives which was mentioned in the draft report of the Secretary General, has been omitted in the final report and this has surprised fair experts. He also announced Iran’s readiness for human rights cooperation apart from any kind of politicization so that the existing destructive mechanism could be corrected and reputation of the greatest international organization could not be used by the political aims of certain arrogant powers anymore.
