A professor of criminal law at the University of Oslo believes that ongoing discussions between Iran and Europe on human rights issues are very valuable and beneficial.

Professor Yuhan Bokt made the remarks at an exclusive interview with the Iran's High Council of Human Right during the 4th round of Iran-Italy Judicial and Human Rights Dialogues.

The joint session was held in Espinas Hotel of Tehran on Monday morning.

When asked about the main objectives of human rights talks between Iran and Italy, the member of the European delegation said, "I think the ongoing discussion between Iran and the European countries is very valuable and I am very glad the Nordic member states have been invited in addition to Italy. England was also supposed to be represented but unfortunately their delegate became ill and she could not make to the present session."

On effectiveness of the talks so far and possible practical outcomes of the dialogues, the Norwegian expert commented that, "I could not comment because this is my first time here. Therefore, I am not quite sure but it is my understanding that they have been perceived as very popular and beneficial."

Regarding prospects of human rights ties between Iran and Italy, he expressed hope that they shall continue adding, "it is tremendously interesting and valuable to exchange experiences of the judicial systems, the treatment of defendants and suspects within the criminal process. "
