Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi called on the Sudanese parties to exercise self-restraint and avoid violence, hoping that they would pursue their demands through dialogue, interaction and peaceful channels.

Commenting on Iran’s stances regarding Sudanese developments, he said that the principled policy of the Islamic Republic is non-interference in other countries’ affairs, as recent developments in Sudan are internal affairs of the country.

“Iran has always favored establishment of stability and security in Muslim countries,” he said, hoping the peace and calm will restore to the country soon.

On Thursday, Sudanese army in a statement confirmed Omar al-Bashir’s resignation after 30 years in office and declared a three-month state of emergency in the northern African country.
