In reaction to the United States recognition of Israel's claim to Golan Heights, Iran’s High Council for Human Rights has issued a statement which reads as follows:

Last week, once again the international community witnessed a gross violation of norms, regulations and principles of international law and the escalation of hatred as well as insecurity in the West of Asia by two - player team, Trump and Netanyahu.

The unilateral move by the US to recognize the sovereignty of the occupying regime of Qods, on the Golan Heights, which came following the failure of the Takfiri forces and terrorists supported by US and Israel in Syria as well as the unilateral recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of the Zionist regime, is yet another evidence of the systematic violation of international law by Washington.

Since 1948, the occupying regime of Qods has been trying to impose its fake identity on the international community and the people of the region by mass murder of the oppressed Palestinians. In 1967, Israel intensified the massacre of Syrian and Palestinian civilians and the use of force against regional countries; since then, Zionist regime has followed the systematic violations of human rights at large.

Disregarding the International Court of Justice ruling on December 8, 2008- which condemned and subsequently ordered the destruction of Israeli West Bank barrier-, using a wide variety of prohibited military weapons including phosphorous and blinding weapons against civilians, mass murder of defenseless people of Sabra and Shatila and UN peacekeepers, launching armed conflicts with Arab states; carrying out various terrorist operations in different countries around the globe, as well as organizing extremist groups to promote hatred and terrorism, are all part of the byproducts of this phony regime in the West of Asia.

Iran's High Council for Human Rights considers the United States recognition of Israel's claim to Golan an apparent violation of the provisions of Article 2 of the United Nations Charter on the rule of the State of Syria over the Golan region, as well as numerous Security Council resolutions, including resolutions 242 and 497, which specifically rejects the recognition of Israel's claim to occupied territories and Golan Height after June 1967.

Iran's High Council for Human Rights considers this move as a serious breach of international law and the peremptory norms of "Non-Recognition and confronting the state which attempts to acquire sovereignty over territory by force" as well as the violation of "Self-Determination". Iran also reminds states their responsibility of not recognizing violations of peremptory rules or jus cogens (referred to in the Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice for Namibia case, also United Nations General Assembly Resolutions 2625 and 31/6, Security Council Resolutions 265 and 662, as well as Article 41 of the draft articles on Responsibility of states).
Iran's High Council for Human Rights strongly slams this anti-human, anti-security and hateful joint effort of President Trump and Netanyahu.

Warning that this illegal action will inevitability intensify the human rights violations of the inhabitants of the Golan region and its surrounding territories; Iran's High Council for Human Rights calls on the United Nations Secretary-General and other international and regional organizations, including the OIC, the Non-Aligned Movement and regional countries to refuse recognition of Israel claims to Golan and unanimously condemn this gross violation of international elementary principals, in order to ensure security and display respect for the rights of the Syrian people and government.
