Iranian Human Rights delegation held a meeting with the UN Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights Kate Gilmor in Geneva last Wednesday, delivering the HCHR statement on the false claims made by Javid Rahman.

Ms. Gilmore first congratulated and appreciated Iran for holding the recent expert meeting of ‘Justice for Children and Teenagers’ in early March, 2019.

In response to the head of the Iranian delegation calling on her to keep the promises to follow negative impacts of inhumane sanctions against Iranian people, she asserted the commitment of the High Commissioner and that he has also notified the UN Secretary General.

Iranian delegation in return delivered to Ms. Gilmore the statement by High Council for Human Rights on the false claims made by Javid Rahman in his interviews with various media outlets including BBC, asking her to inform the High Commissioner of the criticism by the secretary of Iran’s HCHR for Mr. Rahman’s lack of impartiality and bias.

Iranian officials meanwhile reaffirmed Iran’s standing invitations for the thematic rapporteurs to pay a visit to the country.

The Iranian delegation arrived in Geneva on February 25 to attend the Human Rights Council’s sessions and meet with the deputy of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.

The delegation which was headed by Dr. Hakimi, Judicial Deputy of the HCHR Secretary, and Dr. Tafreshi, Deputy of the HCHR International Affairs, included the magistrate at Tehran’s court Mr. Rostami, and the assistant to the human rights director general at the ministry of foreign affairs Mr. Hassani along with experts from both Foreign Ministry and HCHR.
