  • Iran slams UNHRC special rapporteur’s conduct, threatens to stop coop.
High Council for Human Rights

In reaction to the special rapporteur’s recent interviews on the situation of human rights in Iran, the High Council for Human Rights has issued a statement on the false and unreal claims made by Javid Rahman.

The statement reads as follows:

In the Name of the Almighty

The recurring interviews of Mr. Rahman with the media such as BBC, which is known for its enmity against Iran as well as broadcasting fake news against the Iranian government, is undeniably in direct contradiction to the mandate he is holding as a special rapporteur.

Undoubtedly, his media campaign using the title of the UN along with the baseless charges he makes against Iran has seriously caused his legitimacy to come into question. He is entitled to deliver his report to the UN and is not permitted or responsible to get involved in any media campaign.

We officially lodge a protest with the High Commissioner for Human Rights against the direct contradictions to the special rapporteur’s mandate and stress that:

Firstly, Javid Rahman’s wrongful behavior indicates that the appointment of the special rapporteur for Iran has no legal and logical justification and is only due to the existing double standard and political deception in the Human Rights Council’s conduct.

Secondly, should the High Commissioner be unable to prevent him from his wrong conduct, surely the Islamic Republic of Iran will reconsider its great cooperation with the Human Rights Council with respect to this special rapporteur.

Once again, we consider any campaign activities of the special rapporteur as long as he has a formal position as a direct contradiction to regulations and the special rapporteur’s code of conduct and condemn it. we hope that this improper and unlawful method would not be used by other rapporteurs against other countries.
