Iran's Veep

Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri said that Iran takes pride that it has been forerunner of fighting terrorism, adding that if it were not for the Syrian government and people and well as its allies’ sacrifices, today Daesh had succeeded in region, IRNA reported.

He made the remarks during a meeting between the Iranian and Syrian delegations headed by Jahangiri and Syrian Prime Minister Emad Khamis in Damascus.

“Syrian people’s resistance against terrorists has yielded results and we congratulate you on the recent victories in the political and military fields,” he said.

Hoping that terrorism will be uprooted fully and their allies’ plots will be neutralized, the global community and Europeans should know that if it were not for the sacrifices of the Syrian government and people, today Daesh terrorists had set up administration in the region, creating a big and unsolvable problem for the global security.

Iran honors to be forerunner in fighting terrorism and considers the Syrian government and people’s victories its own, he said.

Global community should know that regional security is related to global security, Jahangiri said, noting that today the region moves toward security.

Noting that Iran will stay alongside Syria in reconstruction era, he said that holding the 14th Joint Iran-Syria Economic Meeting reveals that Syria has entered a new stage.

Syrian premier, for his part, said that Iranian delegation’s visit to Syria carries numerous messages and will herald deeper ties between the two friendly and brotherly peoples.

Appreciating Iran’s supports to his country over the past years, Khamis said that victories Syria achieved against terrorists are victories of the entire region.

Reiterating that the Syrian government and nation will withstand the plots and is hopeful about its future in the wake of cooperation with friendly countries, he said that Iranian delegation’s trip to Syria is an opportunity for boosting ties in all fields.

As President Bashar Assad has stressed, the priority to implement Syria’s reconstruction projects lies with the Iranian companies, Khamis said.

Syria needs development of power plants in order to be able to generate 500 to 800 megawatts of electricity a year and Iran can help Syria in this respect, he said.

Terrorists have destroyed Syria’s infrastructures and railways and Iranian companies can undertake projects for reconstructing roads and railroads, he said.
