Sheikh Nasser al-Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Kuwait, who was addressing the Kuwait Investment Summit, expressed his country's macroeconomic plans to invest in the northern Kuwaiti islands and stressed the need for reforms in educational and economic systems. He also emphasized the need for deep relations with the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council, and at the same time underscored that ties with Iran and Iraq were vital.
While expressing his true desire for close relations with Iran and Iraq, he said "we cannot enjoy security unless we have a close relationship with Iran and Iraq."
Kuwaiti defense minister added that if we do not feel comfortable with our neighbors, we should be constantly anxious, and in this case we will never be able to enter into global engagements.
We must admit that Iran is a great country with a glorious history and political issues are of a temporary nature, but human factor is the thing that brings powerful, Nasser al-Sabah continued.
He also said he was in touch with other Kuwaiti partners to achieve close proximity to Iran and Iraq and to help the two countries rebuild their infrastructure.
