Members of the Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism (ADVT NGO) are staying in Geneva in order to take part at the 37th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council.
On the sidelines of the UNHRC’s session in Geneva, ADVT NGO member attended a joint meeting with Secretary General of Iran’s High Council for Human Rights Mohammad Javad Larijani on Monday evening. The two sides mulled over various issues of interest.
Referring to the West’s human rights record, Dr. Larijani criticized the dual standards of the world, especially the West, in dealing with various countries and nations and slammed their discrimination towards the issue of human rights.
Iran’s HR chief also expressed concern over falsification of the term ‘human rights defender’ for purging and covering terrorist groups in Iran and inside the region.
He later commemorated Dr. Alimohammadi and appreciated close cooperation and valuable scientific actions of the martyred nuclear scientist. “Scientific pressures and restrictions imposed on some technical disciplines for Iranian students and academics are all instances of violation of human rights,” he underlined.
“In addition to scientific sanctions, banking limitations and illegal pressures on Iranian students studying in Western countries, such as the UK, are also examples of human rights abuses against Muslims and Iranians,” underscored Larijani.
Masoumeh Karami and members of the Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism also presented a report on their activities at the United Nations Human Rights Council and announced their plan to organize a panel on the rights of children and victims of terrorism.
