HCHR_Exchange of views regarding the cases pending in the judicial authorities of three countries related to terrorism and terrorist groups, especially ISIS, cooperation in the pursuit and trial of terrorists, and bringing into justice and judicial legal pursuit of the crime of the Zionist regime's attack on the Iranian embassy in Damascus, which led to the martyrdom of some Iranian counselors and personnel and the destruction of diplomatic places, are among the topics on the agenda of this meeting. The Syrian delegation is chaired by Judge Hassan Al-Shash, the Head of the Supreme Court and a member of the Supreme Judicial Council, and the Iraqi delegation is chaired by Judge Laith Jaber, the Head of the Judicial Supervision Organization and a member of the Supreme Judicial Council of this country.

It is noted that the heads of the delegations of the three countries and the Syrian Minister of Justice, the deputy head of the Supreme Judicial Council, held a meeting before the meeting of the joint committee.

In this meeting, Gharibabadi said: “The trilateral meeting is especially important in the current situation and the three countries are determined to pursue the crimes of terrorists and their supporters.”

Regarding the criminal attack of the Zionist regime on the Iranian consular building in Damascus, which was a violation of the principles of international law and the provisions of the United Nations Charter, Gharibabadi stated: “Legal follow-ups are on the agenda in this regard, and soon cases will be filed against the criminal Zionist regime in the courts of Iran and Syria, so that we will complete Iran's political actions and decisive response in exercising its right to self-defense. The Vice President of the Judiciary also stated that this initiative is open to other countries that have a serious determination to fight terrorism”.

The Minister of Justice of Syria strongly criticized the U.S occupiers who are looting the wealth of Syria, assassinating prominent figures at the Baghdad airport, and the Zionist regime that is attacking and destroying a diplomatic building in Damascus.

Condemning these crimes, Ahmad al-Sayed noted that international treaties should be binding on everyone; not that the new tool is in the hands of supporters of terrorism to put pressure on countries.

The head of the Iraqi delegation also expressed hope that by holding these meetings, extensive cooperation between neighboring countries in the field of security will take place.

Referring to the trilateral cooperation in the fight against the ISIS, Laith Jaber Hamzah expressed hope that this cooperation will lead to eradication of terrorism in the region so that we do not need the presence of foreign forces in the countries”.

It is worth mentioning that Kazem Gharibabadi, the Vice President of the Judiciary for International Affairs and the Secretary General of the High Council for Human Rights, as the head of the judicial delegation, arrived in Damascus on April 16, 2024 to participate in the first meeting of the trilateral Joint Judicial Committee of Iran, Iraq and Syria on Counter-Terrorism, and was welcomed by the head of the Supreme Court of Syria.
