The representatives of different countries reacted to the allegations made by the head of the so-called fact-finding mission about the Islamic Republic of Iran during the 53rd session of the Council.
 

Iran: After the claim made by the representatives of certain Western countries about the oral report of the so-called fact-finding mission, the representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran demanded that the speakers observed the rules and said: Using respectful language about countries is one of the rules of this Council, but the statements of some representatives are against the session’s protocol and regulations.

He further demanded the intervention of the Council President to deal with the comments made by the representatives of certain countries. The President of the Council approved the demand.

The Council’s President asked the representatives to use a polite tone in their statements.

Venezuela:

The representative of Venezuela said: We ask the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to create constructive dialogues in various cases.

Criticizing the selective and politically-motivated election, he said: A fake news campaign has been launched against Iran.

The representative of Venezuela also said that Iran fulfills its commitments.

Zimbabwe:

Further, the representative of Zimbabwe criticized the representatives of certain countries for using inappropriate language against Iran and emphasized: I want you to allow the session to continue using the appropriate words.

He criticized the process of establishing a fact-finding mission about Iran and added: Such a move is unproductive.

Russia:

The representative of Russia supported the criticism of the representative of Iran on the statements made by the representatives of certain Western countries and demanded a polite and respectful tone.

He also expressed regret about what he described as a waste of time due to the non-compliance of the representatives of certain countries with this law.

The representative of Russia criticized the statements made by the representative of Ukraine and said that the session was to discuss the human rights situation in Iran and not other security issues.

He also emphasized that Moscow rejected the accusations of human rights raised by the Westerners against Tehran and said: Sanctions have caused damage to ordinary citizens.

Pointing out the fact that the access of Iranians to medicine, especially for patients, has faced insurmountable challenges, the representative of Russia said: Once again, we want human rights not to be exploited to put pressure on Iran.

North Korea:

The representative of North Korea in the Human Rights Council said: It is unfortunate to waste time due to inappropriate words.

He emphasized that North Korea rejects any committee's continued use with political motives.

Syria:

Syria’s representative said: “Establishing a fact-finding mission is unproductive.”

Revealing that such a decision was taken to continue a campaign to target Iran, he emphasized: We appreciate Iran’s adherence to human rights obligations.

China:

The representative of China stressed that the Human Rights Council should act impartially and said: Iran has adhered to its commitments.

China further added that the politicization of human rights has increased in recent years.

He emphasized: China supports the neutrality of non-selective selection and non-politicization.

Cuba:

The representative of Cuba stated that his country rejects the results of the anti-Iran report, which was made with political motivation, and said: Such actions are doomed to failure.

He stated: Violations of human rights continue to occur in Western countries.

The representative of Cuba asked the Human Rights Council to work with a constructive and impartial process in this field.

Belarus:

The representative of Belarus said that the fact-finding mission did not pay attention to the facts.

Nicaragua:

The representative of Nicaragua said the Central American country rejects the resolution passed by the Human Rights Council.

Emphasizing that politicization does not contribute to promoting human rights, he stated that the Council’s function should be based on objectivity and not selectivity.
