Iran's Judiciary Deputy for International Affairs and the Secretary of High Council for Human Rights Kazem Gharibabadi in a meeting with French Ambassador to Iran Philippe Thiebaud on Tuesday called for the legal and judicial cooperation between the two states.
Referring to the experience of specialized legal and judicial dialogues with some states, including European countries, Gharibabadi announced Tehran's readiness to exchange views and make talks with Paris. He noted that specialized dialogue between the judicial delegations of the two states and exchanging experiences can also help the sides to reach further mutual understanding. Criticizing the political approach of some states and human rights mechanisms to human rights and applying contradictive and selective standards, he reiterated that cooperation and dialogue are effective tools for the promotion of human rights, not political and double-standard policies. In explaining the human rights approach of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Gharibabadi stated that the laws and regulations of the Islamic Republic of Iran stipulate the promotion and respect for human rights. He went on to say that Iran is a member of numerous human rights conventions and treaties that adhere to them and provide periodic reports on their implementation. Philippe Thiebaud, for his part, described his country's vision for human rights and welcomed the recommendation of Iran's human rights chief on the legal and judicial dialogue between the two states.
