The number of non-Iranian students in Iran’s universities is over 56,000 according to officials.

The number of non-Iranian students in Iran’s universities is over 56,000 according to officials.

The Deputy for International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, Abdul Hamid Alizadeh stated that the number of non-Iranian students at universities all over the country is over 56,000 and more than a third of this number are students and applicants from Afghanistan.

He added that although in the past only 3 Iranian universities were allowed to accept foreign students, now 43 universities are enrolling non Iranian student.

During last decade, thousands of applicants from both Afghan migrants in Iran and Afghan people who travel to have enrolled at Iranian universities, he said.

Law, Persian literature, and computer engineering are the top three fields of study for foreign students in Iran, while civil engineering, business management, political science, English language and literature, Quran and hadith sciences, international relations, and electrical engineering, and other majors with the highest number of non-Iranian students.
