Israel fired phosphorus shells at Gaza: Palestinian official

  • Israel fired phosphorus shells at Gaza: Palestinian official

The Director of Civil Defense in Gaza Strip told Al-Jazeera that Israeli artillery has fired eight phosphorous shells at the besieged enclave on Monday, as Tel Aviv regime's bombardment campaign has entered its second week.

The Palestinian official indicated that the bombing has targeted the whereabouts of civil defense teams in order to obstruct their activities.

According to several reports, the Tel Aviv regime has destroyed infrastructure and hinder civil defense activities by targeting roads. Meantime, Israeli forces are preventing the entry of necessary equipment into the Gaza Strip.

The Gaza Municipality has also announced that Israel deliberately targets roads, infrastructure and buildings in the besieged enclave.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned the Tel Aviv regime's atrocities in the West Bank, Al-Quds and the Gaza Strip, stating that the Israeli regime has used a variety of advanced weapons against people of Palestine, including phosphorous bombs.

Over the past weeks, tensions have escalated in Jerusalem Al-Quds amid acts of aggression by Israeli troops and settlers, and the planned expulsion of dozens of Palestinians from the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in the occupied East Al-Quds, where illegal Israeli settlers seek to take over the properties of Palestinian families.

Palestinian resistance groups have launched more than 3,100 rockets into the occupied territories in retaliation for Israeli violations in Jerusalem Al-Quds and its bombardment of the Gaza Strip.

At least 198 people, including 58 children, have been martyred in the Gaza Strip since the latest violence began a week ago. Over 1,300 Palestinians have also been wounded.
