High Council for Human Rights statement on recent incidents in France

  • High Council for Human Rights statement on recent incidents in France
Unrest in France

Following the recent unrest in France and the crackdown on protesters called yellow vests, the High Council for Human Rights has issued a statement addressing international organizations and the French government.

In the Name of the Almighty

The violent acts of the French police and security forces against the people, who have risen in rebellion against the unbearable existing injustice and discriminations in the country, are unfortunate and worrying.

The French government which has always claimed to be committed to human rights conventions should immediately take necessary measures in order to prosecute individuals who have harmed or killed protesters and present a thorough report on the prosecutions to the international community.

Moreover, the French government should be responsive with respect to secular dictatorship and liberal capitalism and should allow its people to express their opinions freely.

We expect the UN human rights council to put on agenda the preparatory works for the appointment of a special rapporteur for the recent incidents in France and also demand that the UN secretary general observe the recent bitter incidents carefully and provide the international community with relevant reports in this regard.
