Mahmoud Abbasi, Iran's Deputy Justice Minister for Human Rights and International Affairs met and talked with Secretary General of the Ministry of Justice of Morocco, Abdelilah Lahkim Bennani. Abbasi is a part of the Iranian delegation, headed by Minister of Education Mohammad Bathaei, who are visiting the Moroccan capital city of Rabat to attend the Fifth Islamic Conference of Ministers in Charge of Childhood.
Iran's Abbasi referred to the age-old cultural and political relations between the two countries and promotion of economic relations between the two sides from 1.5 to 50 million dollars over the past three years which reflects strong determination of the two countries for development of bilateral relations. He later called for legal and judicial support for economic relations and voiced Iran's readiness to cooperate more closely with Morocco in the field of legal and judicial affairs.
He extended warm and courteous greetings of Iran's Justice Minister Seyed Alireza Avaei to the Kingdom of Morocco, saying "Mr. Avaei attach great importance to development of legal and judicial relations between the two countries in the light of strategic policies of the Iranian government."
Referring to the holding of the Fifteenth Islamic Conference of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and selection of 'Rights of Children' as the summit's topic, Abbasi pointed elaborated on achievements of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the field of the rights of children in recent years and thanked the Moroccan government for its outstanding role in holding and hosting the fifteenth summit expressing hope that by adopting the document on the rights of the child at the fifteenth summit, the children of the Islamic countries will find their worthy position. "We believe that we must take full advantage of capacity of member countries to promote the status of children who will build the future of our societies."
He referred to the exploitation of children by terrorist groups, especially ISIL, in recent years for acts of terror, saying "Islamic countries must shoulder the heavy responsibility of putting an end to the dangerous process which could lead children towards violence. We have no choice but to cooperate actively to prevent this catastrophic situation."
Abdelilah Lahkim Bennani, for his part, expressed satisfaction towards his meeting with the Iranian delegation and underlined that "Minister of Justice of the Kingdom of Morocco recently invited his Iranian counterpart as a special guest of the International Conference on Justice and we are looking forward to Mr. Avaei's presence at the opening ceremony of the upcoming event."
"Undoubtedly, development of judicial legal relations between the two countries and acquaintance of judges and lawyers of the two countries with judicial system of each country will have a significant role in bringing about close and friendly relations," he added.
He went on to highlight the topics on the agenda of the Fifteenth Conference of the Islamic Conference and, in particular, the protection of the rights of children saying "as you have pointed out, we have a heavy responsibility towards our children, who are the next generation of the Islamic world, and we must take steps to realize their rights."
