Convicts sentenced to provide smart phones

This decision was made by the court as an alternative punishment for the convicts, a governmental charity official said.

Under Islamic Penal Code, their imprisonment and financial punishments were substituted by the obligation to provide poor students with smart phones, he added.

According to the mentioned Code, judges are entitled to take into consideration the social and economic conditions of the convict and sentence them to alternative punishments other than imprisonment.
